Based on the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated February 16, 2023, on measures to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy sources and energy-saving technologies in 2023, the country is actively working to improve the energy efficiency of economic and social sectors, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources.
In addition, as part of the OTP Group's commitment to become a carbon-neutral bank by 2030, Ipotekabank, as a subsidiary, is taking all measures to carry out its activities without harming the environment. An example of this is that the Ipotekabank is actively trying to switch to renewable energy sources and, currently, the bank has installed solar panels on the roofs of 39 branches with a total capacity of 903 kW, which, at the moment, covers about 30% of the electricity consumed.
In conclusion, it should be noted that Ipotekabank has established a unified online monitoring system for installed solar panels (608 kW) to ensure the efficiency of renewable energy sources. Accordingly, 440 MW of alternative electric energy has been produced so far, as a result of which 209 tons of harmful greenhouse gases (GHG) have been prevented from being released into the environment. In the future, the bank is going to implement monitoring for the remaining installed panels as well.
